Curiosity

Patterns on the carpet
Dust upon the chairs
I walk through all these memories
And see you sitting there

Pacing round in circles
Walls facing against walls
A voice into my shadows
A gentle wakeup call

A life once lived together
The timeline of a dream
At first a pleasant moment
New seedlings showing green

I thought we’d have forever
Souls merging into one
But saw your heart was poison
Our whole broken, not a sum

I truly thought I knew you
I believed that you loved me
But lies grew up and choked us
Addiction, insults, cut ties

You shattered me so coldly
Broke off a jagged shard
And with my own heart stabbed me
Turned me to bitter ice

And as I stood there frozen
You left me in the dust
I slipped into the darkness
You walked into the light

And I’m just standing still here
In the greyness of my life
Still wondering to where you went
And what you’re doing now
